Growing up, I played every sport under the sun, but I found my ultimate passion in the seventh grade.
It was the year that the track coach pulled me aside and suggested I take up track and field. While I debated joining for a while (wasn’t really sure if I would be as good at it as he said I would be), I eventually joined and fell in love with it.
Long story short, I became so obsessed with running that I begin to train for the Rio Olympics. However, due to an injury and moving from Ohio to Florida, I let the dream go.
I never stopped running though, and more than that, I never stopped going to the gym.
During my training for Rio, I would spend a lot of time in the gym. Even though I hated it at first, I soon grew to love the way it transformed my body and my mind. Weight training and running, for me, have always been therapeutic.
When I stopped my training though and I moved on to other things, namely keeping up with high school work and getting ready for college, I found myself looking for a good gym. I trialed at a lot, but honestly hated the way I felt at them.
I was worried about being judged for “messing up,” or not being able to lift as much as the next person, or just straight up forgetting how to do an exercise. So I stayed away from gyms for a while and just stuck to running outside.
Florida heat is no joke though, and I knew I needed to get back into the gym or else I would be out of shape or dead from heat exhaustion, haha!
A gym I had heard about a lot was Crunch Fitness, but I just tuned out the noise. I figured it was just the hype of something new and people were getting too excited over nothing. Boy was I WRONG! I’ve had the opportunity to try it out for myself and guys – it truly is as amazing as everyone claims.
Crunch’s mantra is “No Judgements” and that’s how I felt. From the second I walked in the door I was kindly greeted by employees at the front, showed around the gym, and set up for success.
As I worked out I didn’t feel like people were staring at me, or making fun of the fact that I couldn’t lift more than twenty pounds with my noodle arms (my bad haha), or that I sometimes forget an exercise I’ve done before and need a little help remembering.
As someone who has been in several gyms where I felt like I didn’t fit in, I can assure you that I didn’t feel like that here. So, if you’re looking for a gym that’s clean, has a friendly (and helpful!) staff, an atmosphere that is energizing, and people that aren’t going to share their glares of disapproval – Crunch Fitness would be your ideal home gym! Take my word for it!
Anddddd if you are in the Tampa, Sarasota or Atlanta area you can join for $9.95 per month and a $1 Enrollment fee by either stopping by a location or using the following code: ONE on crunch.com by 4/30/18!
