Many people anxiously and excitedly waited for the start of 2017. The day when the calendar would (finally) boast in recognition of a new year. It marks a fresh start. A new chapter in a blank book. A second chance. In honor of such, I figured there was no better time to share this post in partnership with Scarlet and Gold.
The New Living Translation of Psalm 30:5 says, “. . .Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” The Message Translation is, “the nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.” Between all of the posts on social media I’ve seen and all the stories I’ve heard, every person that has shared their heart expressed how hard 2016 was and I can’t say I disagree that it was difficult. Therefore, I wanted to give you a little encouragement.
While the past year may have been tough, long, and seemed like everything was against you- joy comes in the morning. The start of a new year is one of those times where it’s easy to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s easy to have hope, easy to love others, easy to forgive, easy to be joyful. As days pass, life happens while you’re making other plans, and things don’t go your way, remember that joy comes in the morning. Joy comes in the morning as much as it does at the beginning of the year, as it does on May 24th when the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Remember that joy is an attitude of the heart, while happiness is an emotion. Happiness is fleeting and temporary as the good days come and go, but being joyful is a choice.
I encourage you all to choose joy even when the circumstances aren’t in your favor. This is one of the biggest things I’m working on in 2017 because I struggle with it immensely. It’s so easy to get caught up in emotions and think or act based upon them, but it’s imperative to go beyond and work on the attitudes of our heart. Overall, I’m so excited for all that is to come this year and I’m praying for each and every one of you. I declare this will be your best year yet full of unexplainable opportunities and unfathomable blessings. The best is YET to come!
